Flypup’s New Adventure

Greetings…

I did have to go back to the doctor a few days ago when I still
wasn’t getting any better. An ear infection was “missed” the
first time around and a new round of meds were prescribed. You
know I’m really sick when I not only go to the doctor in the
first place, but go back again within days…

Thankfully, everything started working and I’m finally feeling
better and able to get moving around here, although I tire a
little faster than usual…

While reading my mail, a few questions regarding the same subject
came up and I thought I’d answer them in case others have also
been wondering what Flypup and his wife have been up to, and where
he is…

As we speak, he and wifey are on route to Florida, moving out of
Lufkin, Texas. Flypup was a recent “victim” of the Airline Industry
and was furloughed from his Corporate flying job a month ago. He
immediately flooded various companies with his resume and as luck,
(and a LOT of help from the powers that be), he got a call back one
day later. I’m proud to say out of thousands of applicants and one
position available, he got the job!

He will be going back to being a “Freight Dawg” flying cargo like he
did a little over a year ago. His job will take him to North Carolina
for at least three months, then another move to his permanent base…

If you’ve ever seen, “Where in the world is Matt Lauer”? You’ll understand
why I substitute Flypup’s name for Matt Lauer…

The reason they are heading to Florida is Flypup’s wife’s parents live
down by Palm Beach. Flypup doesn’t start training until the middle of
September, then it’s off to North Carolina, for a week, followed by
Memphis for a month…

He’ll spend the next two weeks of unemployment being a beach bum…

There was no reason to stay in Texas and this way his wife gets
to spend some time with her parents. She hasn’t been able to see
them too often since they got married because they moved so much…

As soon as Flypup is done with training, they will go back to North
Carolina and settle down (for a little while at least)…

Flypup is actually happy to be a “Freight Dawg” again, he wasn’t overly
thrilled flying Corporate because he was on call seven days a week and
had to be gone quite a bit. He gets to be home every night with this job,
although once in a while he will have a few overnights elsewhere…

Yessirreeeee folks, ain’t the life of a pilot just SO glamorous???

Years ago, it was a glamorous profession for pilots, not so anymore. Flyboy
is extremely lucky to be working where he is and although Flypup may THINK
he has already paid his dues, these young whippersnappers have no real clue
what else they will have to go through before achieving Flyboy’s level in
his career…

Like the ten days he’s off for vacation right now, and yes, he’s on vacation
AGAIN!!!
Don’t worry, I have a nice big “vacation list of things to do” for him. First
on the list this morning was to send him golfing so I could get something
done…
