Greetings…
We’re on the middle of a cold front. I realize a cold front to most of
you is one that brings below zero temperatures and possibly snow. For
those of us who are official “weenies” because of living in a warmer
climate, we are all walking around with layers of clothing. The temps
during the day are going to be in the low sixties for the next week and
the lows of 40-45 at night are enough for us to shiver just hearing
the forecast…
With the colder temps comes the normal occurence that we go through on
a daily basis, only worse at this time of the year, and that is…
the dry air…
The air is so dry that everything and everyone is a “conductor” and
giving a kiss to anyone, human or animal, can cause fireworks and
not in a romantic way…
We called the heating company to see about getting a humidifier put
on the furnace like we did when we lived in Illinois for years. We
were told that “we don’t do that here in Arizona”…
Whyyyyyyyyyyyy, you can’t GET much drier air than here???
We have three air condtioning units and three furnaces and understand
that a humidifier unit would have to be put on each one, but we made
several calls to several companies, starting with the one that installed
everything when we built the house and the answer was always the same…
Nope, we don’t do that here, get a humidifier…
Alrighty then, we went and bought four humidifiers for various rooms in
the house and so far, I can tell you that it has been more trouble than
it’s worth because the air is sucking the water up so fast the tanks have
to be filled twice a day and even then the humidity in the room MAY raise
up 1 percent, if we’re lucky…
I give up and unfortunately, this is only the beginning of the cold, dry
season. Moosie and Ginger will just have to get used to mama shocking
them on the nose when she gives them some love…
It’s supposed to rain today and at least the air will have some moisture in
it, which I’m thrilled about. How thrilled?
I don’t even care how bad my naturally curly hair frizzes!!!
