Greetings…
(written Thursday night, right after the debate)
Well…The Vice-Presidential debate just finished and I figured
I better write about it while it’s still fresh. How do you think
Sarah Palin and Joe Biden did?
I realize whatever I say, I’ll get some kind of grief over it.
What can I say, grief is my middle name…
I personally thought Joe Biden won hands down and not only appeared
to know the issues, but gave Obama supporters the confidence that
he would be ready to lead should something tragic happen to the
President…
If you are a McCain supporter, or even just a Sarah Palin fan, she
did better than expected and given the problems she had the week
before, I would imagine there is/was great rejoicing at watching
her in the debate. I would have said “watch her debate”, but she
didn’t answer the questions and actually arrogantly said she wasn’t
going to answer the questions any other way than her way, which was
to NOT answer the questions…Yep, I can hear and feel the hate
comments coming my way…
I realize some think she’s a “breath of fresh air” and is exactly
what this country needs. Maybe some day, but certainly not at this
time. She’s out of her league and all the coaching in the world
didn’t prove that she has a handle on important issues any better
than during some of her earlier interviews…
Am I being too hard on her? I don’t think so. Did I find her winking
at the camera cute and endearing? Not one bit. Maybe it worked better
on men, but… had Hillary Clinton pulled that stunt, she would have
been ripped to shreds by the media and accused of trying to put one
over on us. That’s how I felt watching it. Stop winking and answer
the questions asked. I swear, there was so much winking going on
that I wondered if she had something going on with my husband!
While Joe Biden appeared to have a handle on most of the topics, like
ALL politicians, all the facts and figures quoted in the world aren’t
indications that all the facts and figures are true and are more likely,
“half-truths”, embellishments, and wishful thinking…
While the debate was more entertaining in my opinion, than the
Presidential debate, being entertained isn’t what we voters are
looking for. How can any of us believe ANYTHING any politician
tells us when most of us have heard it all before and know that
there is no way they can deliver what they promise when the
election is over, given the current problems facing our country…
Do you really believe the word “Change” will make it so? Do you
really believe “Joe six pack” is a representation of the majority
of Americans? Do you really believe that “Hockey Moms” all over
the country have the resources to leave five kids at home while
they travel around the country, when they can barely afford
day care to do the jobs they have?
Do you really believe “a breath of fresh air” is qualification
to run this country and handle foreign policy? Do you really
believe Obama or McCain can help the middle class in enough
time to save them from slipping further into an economic
disaster? Name one of the candidates, on either side who are
in danger of losing their homes, having a hard time getting a
car loan, sending their children to college, heating their
homes, putting food on their tables, etc. etc. and the list goes
one. Sure, they all “listen” to people on the campaign trail,
but do they HEAR them???
So, Did Sarah Palin do a good job? For Sarah Palin, I think she
did. Did she do anything to help John McCain? I don’t think so.
I believe her Vice-President candidacy was on the line and she
was definitely able to cement her position as John McCain’s running
mate…
I realize I am talking about Palin much more than Biden and with
good reason. All eyes and ears were on her and no matter how much
you may disagree, McCain and his people probably held onto their
chairs “white-knuckled” until the debate got underway. I’m sure
they were able to relax and release their grips tonight…
As for me? I personally wasn’t impressed with her one bit and
still don’t think she’s qualified for the job she is campaigning
for. Then again, I could be wrong, <wink>, <wink> Now, wasn’t that
sincere and adorable?
The poll is up and running to vote on the debate. Stop by and cast
your vote and of course, show some loveeeeeeeeee. I’m sure the poll
will reflect what different news channels will say. Depending on
your party affiliation, you will side with one or the other,
even if one side was the clear winner. I can guarantee that if
I put up a poll asking who won the next Presidential debate a
day before it even took place, there would be a few votes cast
by people. Go ahead and shake your head in disagreement. When I
scheduled the poll on the Vice Presidential debate, it showed up
on the blogs two hours before the actual debate occured and lo and
behold, Biden and Palin already had a few votes!!!
I guess a few readers were members of the Psychic Network…
Go figure…
