Update On Ginger

January 15th, 2010

Greetings…

I thought I would give an update on Ginger since I have gotten so
many emails asking how she is doing. I am happy to report she is
doing exceptionally well even though she isn’t fully healed yet…

I still have to watch her closely because she wants to run and play
with Moosie even though she still shouldn’t, and I have had to run
out in the back when I heard chests bumping which always means the
Great Dane play is in full gear. She can walk on her foot now although
limps a little when she has overdone it…

Because I have spoiled her R-O-T-T-E-N since she got hurt, she has gotten
used to certain things and isn’t shy about using her charm and injury to
get what she wants…

She believes every Tupperware container should contain chicken and rice
because Mommy made a big batch and froze some when she first got hurt
and wouldn’t eat much…

She believes cheese should be handed out with or without her medication
and will actually put on the limp as soon as she enters the kitchen and
stares at the fridge. I’m serious about this!!!

She knows the dog door has been off limits since she has been hurt, which
is just fine with her. She walks over to the patio door, turns her head
and gives me THE most pathetic look so I will open the door. As soon as
the door is opened, she bolts like a rabbit chasing a rabbit!

When she returns, she holds her paw up a little and I always get sucked into
thinking she hurt it running. Yeah right…

As soon as she gets inside, her paw miraculously touches the floor and I
think, if you listen real closely, you can hear a snicker…

Moosie has paid very close attention to all of this…

She knows that pill time for Ginger means cheese time for her also and will
actually stare at Ginger’s pill bottle during the day as if to remind me
that Ginger is due for her medication. If left to her, she’d probably
overdose her own sister for that prize of cheese…

Ginger has Moosie trained also. If they are both outside and I’m not around,
she gets Moosie to open the patio screen door to let her in. She still hasn’t
figured out how to do it and Moosie hasn’t learned to close the dang door
behind her…

But, the best “trick” Ginger has used to get her way is sneaking into bed
before we get back there and when either one of us tries to get her to
get down and into her own bed, she lifts her head, looks at us, and plops
back down and pretends to be out cold. You can’t get her to move, flinch,
or open her eyes. It works everytime and and she knows it! She has the
“playing dead” trick down to a science…

So, that’s the update on Frick and Frack. They’re never dull, always amusing,
and loved a little more every day that passes…

:-)

Have a great weekend everyone!
